These 2 AI Companies Could Replicate SpaceX's Trillion-Dollar Debut – How To Get In

/4 min read

Following an explosive market debut, Elon Musk’s SpaceX seems to have set the tone for how the IPOs of large companies are expected to go. Its trillion-dollar valuation has made millionaires, with Musk becoming the first recorded billionaire in history as a result. But with the SpaceX price already quite high, investors are looking to the next private companies that could IPO next at a high valuation, and that is where Anthropic and OpenAI enter the picture.

OpenAI and Anthropic are increasingly being mentioned in the same conversation as investors search for the next private technology giant capable of replicating SpaceX’s blockbuster public market debut. With artificial intelligence (AI) attracting record levels of capital and private valuations rising rapidly, expectations are that these AI companies could eventually follow a trajectory similar to SpaceX, whose secondary-market valuation continues to range above the $1 trillion mark.

OpenAI Draws Massive Investor Interest Despite IPO Uncertainty

Among private technology companies, OpenAI remains one of the most closely watched for the possibility of a public debut. The company has established itself as a leader in generative artificial intelligence through products such as ChatGPT and enterprise AI services, which have helped to drive its private valuation to hundreds of billions of dollars. That growth has naturally fueled speculation over when OpenAI might eventually enter public markets and do so at a trillion-dollar valuation.

However, recent reports indicate OpenAI could delay any listing while it continues restructuring its corporate governance, expanding global infrastructure, and negotiating with investors regarding its unique capped-profit model. The company’s management has repeatedly emphasized that product development and long-term research remain higher priorities than actually pursuing a public offering at this point.

Despite the uncertainty, investor appetite is still growing. Some brokerage platforms already offer pre-IPO contracts for difference (CFDs) linked to private company valuations, allowing qualified traders to speculate on future share-price movements without directly owning equity in OpenAI. The latest of these is the pre-IPO CFD trading launched by STARTRADER for both OpenAI and Anthropic. However, these products carry substantial risk because pricing depends on private market valuations rather than traditional exchange trading, but they illustrate the intense demand surrounding OpenAI.

Anthropic Could Follow SpaceX With a Blockbuster AI Listing

Despite OpenAI often dominating the news headlines, Anthropic has quietly emerged as one of the world's most valuable AI startups. Backed by major technology companies, including Amazon and Google, and most controversially, Sam Bankman-Fried of the now-defunct FTX crypto exchange, Anthropic has rapidly expanded its Claude family of AI models while attracting billions of dollars in strategic investment. With its rapidly growing user base, the company is increasingly viewed as one of the strongest competitors in the AI race.

According to recent reports, investors are already discussing scenarios in which Anthropic could eventually achieve a valuation approaching or even exceeding $1 trillion if commercial adoption of generative AI continues accelerating over the next decade.  The comparison with SpaceX stems from a similar combination of technological leadership, enormous addressable markets, and sustained private funding. Like SpaceX, Anthropic has remained private while raising successive funding rounds at steadily higher valuations instead of rushing toward a public listing.

During its last funding round, the company announced that it raised $65 billion in Series H funding. The round, which was led by heavy hitters such as Altimeter Capital, Greenbacks, Sequoia Capital, and Dragoneer, saw the company valued at $965 billion, $35 billion shy of a $1 trillion valuation.

Given this already high valuation, it is not far-fetched to expect Anthropic to debut at over $1 trillion if it does decide to go public. The company already revealed back in June that it had filed to go public. But the details of its listing are yet to be decided. Whether the AI company will be able to surpass SpaceX’s initial valuation remains to be seen.
