The Powerball winning numbers for Monday, Sept. 28, 2026, were 17, 21, 29, 42 and 49, with 7 as the Powerball. The Power Play multiplier was 3X, according to the official Powerball drawing results. No ticket matched all five white balls and the Powerball, leaving the top prize unclaimed. The jackpot was advertised at $389 million for Monday night's drawing, with an official cash value of $161.7 million.
Four tickets did, however, hit the Match 5 tier. One ticket sold in Puerto Rico matched all five white balls and included Power Play, producing a $2 million prize. Tickets sold in Illinois, North Carolina and New York matched all five white balls for $1 million each.
The results add another rollover to a jackpot run that has yet to produce a winner at the top prize level.
Powerball Jackpot Climbs to $409 Million
With Monday's jackpot unclaimed, the next Powerball drawing is scheduled for 10:59 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Sept. 30. The advertised jackpot is expected to rise to $409 million, with a reported cash value of $170.2 million, according to the latest post-drawing figures. This is an increase from Monday's $389 million advertised prize.
Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET. The drawings are conducted at the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee and are also available to watch through the official Powerball website.
The advertised jackpot represents the annuity value. Jackpot winners can instead choose a one-time cash payment, with both amounts subject to applicable federal and jurisdictional taxes.
For the Wednesday drawing, the $409 million advertised jackpot and $170.2 million cash value are pre-tax figures. The latest jackpot rollover also means the prize has continued to build after the Sept. 26 Powerball drawing, when no ticket matched all six numbers either.
What Are the Odds of Winning Powerball?
A standard Powerball play costs $2. Players choose five numbers from 1 through 69 and one red Powerball number from 1 through 26. The Power Play option costs an additional $1 and multiplies eligible non-jackpot prizes. Powerball's official prize chart says the Match 5 + Power Play prize is always $2 million. The odds of winning the jackpot are approximately 1 in 292.2 million, while the overall odds of winning any Powerball prize are about 1 in 24.9.
Monday's 3X Power Play affected the lower prize tiers but did not increase the jackpot. The official results show that 15 tickets matched four white balls plus the Powerball and won $150,000, while 210 tickets matched four white balls without the Powerball for $100 prizes.
Players who believe they hold a winning ticket should check it against the official results and follow the claim procedures in the jurisdiction where the ticket was purchased. Powerball says winning tickets must be redeemed in the state or jurisdiction where they were sold.
The next drawing will take place Wednesday night, with the jackpot now estimated at $409 million. Until a ticket matches all five white balls and the red Powerball, the top prize will continue rolling forward.
